An excellent, action-packed continuation of the Red Rising science fiction series. Brown moved to multiple point-of-view first person writing after the initial trilogy, and here he uses it to both literary effect as well as to move the action. There is almost a sort of symmetry in the way he switches POV. The level and intensity of action will by now be familiar to a veteran Red Rising reader, although that means sometimes one comes to expect the hairs-breadth nick-of-time rescues--or falls from the frying pan and into the fire. Brown has also introduced a bit more steam into the romance elements after the first trilogy. All in all, Brown keeps the reader turning pages and often sitting on the each of the seat, to the point where it can be emotionally draining when following the misadventures of characters with whom one connects. An excellent read.
